Photograph or upload a page — auto-crop, straighten, reduce folds, and make it look scanned. Nothing is uploaded.
Add a photo of a document to begin.
On a phone, Save / Share often lets you put the scan in your camera roll or Photos.
Turn phone photos of paperwork into cleaner, straighter scans without installing an app. Crop the page, fix perspective, reduce fold shadows, and export a JPG you can keep or share.
Anyone who needs a photo of a page to look like a scan: a receipt for an expense claim, a signed form going back to an office, a contract page, or a handwritten note worth keeping legibly. A phone camera is the scanner most people actually have, and the difference between a usable document and a snapshot of paper is mostly cropping the page out of its background and flattening the lighting.
Shooting in your own shadow. Standing between a window and the page puts a dark band across it that no amount of processing recovers well — turn so the light comes past you, not from behind you. Photographing at an angle and hoping the crop will fix it is the second; corner detection can square up a moderate angle, but a steep one stretches the text as it flattens. The third is zooming with the camera instead of moving closer, which throws away real detail before the image ever reaches the tool.
Images can be uploaded rather than captured, so a camera is not required and the whole tool can be used with files taken by someone else or by another device. Crop corners can be adjusted manually when automatic detection picks the wrong edges. This tool is unavoidably visual — judging whether a scan came out legible means looking at it — so if that is difficult, having a sighted colleague check the result before sending is worth the moment it costs.
All processing runs in your browser. Document images are not uploaded to ToolsAre.Us for this tool.
Finished scans usually want to become a single document, which is what the PDF tools are for. If the file is still too large to send, the Image Compressor will bring it down, and the File Archiver bundles a batch into one ZIP. To read a barcode on the document rather than the document itself, use the Barcode and QR Reader. The full tool list is on the home page.
No — scanning stays in this tab.
