Barcode & QR Generator — FAQ

Everything the generator can do.

The basics

How do I make a code?
Pick the code type, type or paste your data into the box, and the barcode or QR code updates instantly. When it looks right, download it as a PNG (great for documents and printing) or SVG (scales to any size without blur).
Which barcode types are supported?
You can generate a QR code plus common 1D barcodes including Code 128, EAN-13 / EAN-8, UPC, and ITF-14, among others. Each symbology expects data in a certain format — for example EAN-13 needs 12–13 digits — and the tool will let you know if your input doesn't fit.
What is QR error correction?
QR codes include spare data so they still scan even if part of the code is dirty, scratched, or covered by a logo. Higher correction levels (L → M → Q → H) tolerate more damage but make the pattern denser. For most uses the default is fine; raise it if you'll print small or overlay a logo.

Bulk & printing

Can I make many codes at once?
Yes. Paste a list — one value per line — and the tool lays out a printable sheet of codes, which is handy for labelling boxes, inventory, or handling units. Use your browser's Print dialog to print or save the sheet as a PDF.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
Choose SVG when you need to resize the code or send it to a printer or design app, because it stays razor-sharp at any scale. Choose PNG when you just need a ready-to-use image to drop into a document, slide, or email.

Scanning & privacy

Why won't my barcode scan?
The usual causes are too little quiet space (white margin) around the code, printing too small, or data that doesn't match the chosen symbology. Print at a reasonable size, keep the margins, and make sure the code type suits your data.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. Codes are generated entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored, and everything clears when you refresh.
