TryHarder Barcode / QR Code Reader FAQ

Multiple photos from different angles — TryHarder merges what each shot can make out

Phone photo or upload

Can I use several photos of the same code?
Yes. Take or upload multiple angles of the same barcode/QR. TryHarder scans each shot and combines candidates. Agreement across photos raises confidence. If nothing fully decodes, the page still shows what each photo produced.
How do I scan with my phone?
Tap Take a photo to open the camera, or Upload image to pick a picture from your gallery. You can also use Live camera for continuous scanning.

Recovery

What does TryHarder deep recovery do?
Runs more image variants (extra thresholds, invert, rotations, stronger upscaling) and keeps decoding until several passes agree or all fail.
Can it invent missing data?
No. It only extracts what is still present in the image. QR error correction can fill small damage; destroyed bars cannot be guessed.
Why multiple candidates?
Different passes sometimes disagree. The top result is the one most independent passes agree on — always verify critical values.

Privacy

Is my photo uploaded?
No. Decoding runs in the browser with ZXing (and BarcodeDetector when the browser supports it).

Tips

Still failing?
Use better light, crop tightly around the code, avoid glare, try both a phone photo and the live camera, enable Deep recovery.
